Two Japanese stars are heading to Titan FC.
Akihiro Gono and Yoshiyuki Yoshida, lightweight veterans who built back their careers after leaving the UFC, have just signed a deal with the promotion, Titan FC COO Lex McMahon confirmed the news with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Thursday.
“Titan just signed Yoshida and Gono, expanding our international talent pool and bringing fans huge names,” McMahon told MMAFighting.com.
There’s no date set for their Titan FC debut, but McMahon said both fighters will compete in 2014.
Gono (34-19-8), who fought in promotions like UFC, PRIDE, Bellator, Sengoku, Pancrase and Shooto, moved recently to Brazil to restart his career, after going winless in five straight bouts, and scored back-to-back victories in Curitiba. Gono has wins over Gegard Mousasi and Hector Lombard on his MMA record.
Yoshida (17-6), who also competed under the UFC and Bellator banners between 2008 and 2010, enters his first bout at Titan FC riding a six-fight win streak, including a decision victory over Phil Baroni at One FC.
