Al Iaquinta not fooled by the behavior of Donald Cerrone heading into their fight. The two fighters are slated to meet inside of the Octagon to fight in the headliner of UFC Ottawa.
Al is coming off a decision win over Kevin Lee in the UFC on FOX 31 headliner. This event went down on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on big FOX. It served as a rematch between the two fighters which saw Iaquinta won the first fight.
Now, he has his sights set on fighting the former title contender. However, he won’t be fooled by Cerrone trying to be his friend before punching each other in the face come fight night.
“You got to be careful with that guy, I don’t know,” Iaquinta told BJPenn.com Radio. “He was trying to get real buddy-buddy with me at the on sale tour when we went to Toronto to sell the tickets. He was asking me a bunch of questions about real estate and stuff, and I was giving him one word answers. Like, ‘Alright bro. Let’s not get too friendly.’”
“He wants the same shit I want, and I want it more, so I’m going out there to take it. It’s not going to be like f***ing a Yancy Medeiros fight. It’s going to be where I’m in his face the whole time. There’s no hugging in between knockdowns and shit like that.”
UFC Ottawa is set to take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. The main card will air on ESPN+ as well as the preliminary card and the early prelims.
