It’s better to be safe than sorry

Following UFC Edmonton last night (Sat., Nov. 2, 2024), which took place inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, company officials confirmed to MMAMania.com that the main event loser, Amir Albazi, was transported to the local hospital.

Albazi was sent to the hospital immediately after the fight for a precautionary CT scan of his head and face.

It makes complete sense that he was sent to the hospital as Brandon Moreno battered him for five rounds, and by the end of the fight, his face was a blood mess with a messed up eye.

“The Prince” is no stranger to the hospital as he endured a 16-month layoff full of injuries, which included heart surgery, and then after that, dealt with another injury that could have left him paralyzed if untreated.

Albazi, 31, had his six-fight win streak snapped and suffered his first loss inside Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The Iraq-born fighter was most likely one fight away from a Flyweight championship fight, but now, he will look to get back to the title conversation.

With the promotion traveling to the Middle East multiple times next year, the No. 3 ranked Flyweight should return there.
