The heavyweight fighter was arrested for the second time in two months.

Two months after being detained for driving under the influence and evading arrest, Alexander Emelianenko has once again been arrested for charges related to public alcohol consumption.

Emelianenko, 37, was detained after being spotted drinking in a children’s playground on Vostochnaya Street in Moscow. The heavyweight fighter was taken into police custody, where an administrative protocol was drawn up against him. The news was first reported by Russian state-run media source tass.ru, who cited a source within law enforcement.

“Alexander Emelianenko was detained on Vostochnaya Street for drinking alcohol in a public place,” said the agency’s source.

A picture of Emelianenko drinking in public while hiding behind his car was posted online the following day.

Emelianenko’s detention comes in the wake of his arrest Kislovodsk, Russia two months ago. The fighter faced DUI charges after crashing into two vehicles while driving his golden Mercedes before attempting to flee the scene. He was placed in custody for 10 days and was deprived of his driver’s license for one and a half years.

This is not the first time that Emelianenko has faced criminal charges for serious crimes. In May 2015, the fighter was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for aggravated sexual assault, which included withholding his housekeeper’s passport and extorting her for sexual favours. He was released on parole in November 2016 and spent the majority of the following two years living in Chechnya at the behest of the republic’s president, Ramzan Kadyrov.
