Former two-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger and No. 2-ranked contender Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson recently got back into the win column with a dominant decision victory over Jan Blachowicz at September 3’s UFC Fight Night 93.
Despite only being a few weeks removed from his recent victory, Gustafsson has already signed on the dotted line for his next bout. “The Mauler” is set to face off with Brazilian legend Antonio “Rogerio” Nogueira in the main event of November 19’s UFC Fight Night 100 from Sao Paolo, Brazil according to Combate.
Prior to his victory over Blachowicz, Gustafsson had dropped two straight to the division’s elite in champion Daniel Cormier and No. 1-ranked Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. A win over “Lil’ Nog” will likely put “The Mauler” dangerously close to another shot at the title given the scarcity of the 205-pound class.
Nogueira was also riding a two-fight losing streak that included losses to Johnson as well as fellow Brazilian veteran Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. He was able to bounce back at May’s UFC 198, however, with an impressive stoppage victory over Patrick Cummins.
