Alexis Davis is switching things up.
The No. 1 women’s bantamweight contender will branch out to hone her wrestling skills at Sacramento’s Team Alpha Male gym ahead of her UFC 175 title fight against Ronda Rousey, according to a report from Ariel Helwani on UFC Tonight.
Team Alpha Male is the home to several accomplished wrestlers within the UFC’s lighter ranks including Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes, T.J. Dillashaw and Joseph Benavidez.
Davis (16-5) will continue to train at her regular gym, Northern California’s Combat Sports Academy, in preparation for Rousey (9-0) as well.
UFC 175 takes place July 5, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. Rousey vs. Davis is expected to serve as the co-main event under a middleweight title bout between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida.
Davis, like Rousey, is a perfect 3-0 under the UFC banner with decision victories over Rosi Sexton, Liz Carmouche, and most recently Jessica Eye.
