Reigning UFC women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes, who also wears gold at 135 pounds, retained her 145-pound title in emphatic fashion by submitting top contender Megan Anderson in the UFC 259 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event last Sat. night (March 6) in Las Vegas, Nevada, sending the 31 year-old Aussie to her third loss inside the Octagon.

Consider Anderson down, but not out.

“This game has the highest of highs and the lowest of lows,” the Invicta FC import wrote on social media. “This was the one we wanted to win but it’s the fight game. We’ll be back.”

Their fight lasted roughly two minutes (highlights here).

Anderson (11-5) is unranked at featherweight, simply because the promotion doesn’t have enough 145-pound fighters to complete the weight class. The division title is expected to be retired once Nunes calls it a career, but that doesn’t sound like it’s happening anytime soon.
