Anderson Silva’s return to the Octagon didn’t go as planned last night (Sat. Feb. 27, 2016), as “The Spider” lost a unanimous decision to Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC Fight Night 84 in London, England.
Of course, Silva stated during his post-fight speech that some home cooking could have given “The Count” the win, as he says total corruption could have played a big factor in the fight. Something “The Spider” says is also an issue in his home country of Brazil.
His words via Complex:
“Here’s the deal, you can’t win one way, they try to take it away the other way. That’s it. You saw how that went, right? So, there’s nothing left to say. I fought for you, and that’s it. Thank you for the support. My family, I’m coming back home, I’m fine. Mission accomplished, mission given, but sometimes it’s like in Brazil, total corruption.”

It’s one thing to throw a country under the bus, it’s an an entirely different thing to do it to your own. But, I guess you can’t knock his honest opinion, even if it won’t sit too well with his countrymen.
Still, Silva wasn’t the only one who thought he’d won the bout, as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White also felt the former 185-pound champion should’ve gotten the nod. Of course, many believe Silva could have done more on his end to sway the decision in his favor.
Silva came close to walking way with a spectacular knockout victory, as he flattened Bisping with a flying knee in the closing seconds of round two. Thinking he had delivered the coup de grace, Silva prematurely celebrated the win. But it was short lived, as referee Herb Dean never actually called an end to the bout.
It was a controversy-filled night indeed.
