Strawweight champion Jessica Andrade expects an exciting bout against Weili Zhang at UFC Shenzhen.
The UFC strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade, expects nothing but an exciting fight for her first title defense.
In enemy territory, ‘Bate-Estaca’ will take on rising contender Weili Zhang at UFC Fight Night 157, in Shenzhen, China, and revealed to Portal do Vale Tudo how she predicts a thrilling stand-up battle.
“She is a really tough fighter,” Andrade said. “She has fought Tecia Torres, whom I also fought, and I know how hard it is to fight Tecia. After seeing what she did in that fight, I believe the UFC set up a really good fight. We will surely end the card on a high note, it’ll be fireworks the whole time.
“Weili walks forward all the time, she throws good shots, she’s quick, she’s strong, so I have to be well prepared for this fight,” she continued. “You can be certain that everything will go well on the day of the fight.”
Andrade is currently on a four-fight winning streak, with wins over Claudia Gadelha, Tecia Torres, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and capturing the title by slam KO vs. Rose Namajunas. She’s now expected to headline UFC Shenzhen on August 31st. The 27-year-old’s sole loss in the strawweight division happened in May 2017, when she was bested by then-champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk via unanimous decision.
