Alongside Glover Teixeira’s main event win, longtime heavyweights were the big earners at UFC Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Andrei Arlvoski may have gone through some major low points over the last half decade, but he’s still one of the UFC’s best paid fighters. ‘The Pitbull’ entered Wednesday’s Fight Night card in Jacksonville, FL at as much as a 3-to-1 underdog against Octagon newcomer and former PFL champion Philipe Lins. When he walked out, he was the owner of not just a surprising decision victory, but also the card’s highest fight purse, clocking in at $325,000.
Glover Teixeira and Ben Rothwell followed not far behind, with $280,000 & $260,000 respectively. With fellow headliner Anthony Smith bringing in $130,000 in his losing effort. Complete salaries for the event totaled $1.75 million and an addition $200k in bonus money. It should be noted, that the Florida Commission does not slip purses into show & win, so all fighters are only listed with their total purse. Typically, UFC contracts are structured so that fighters earn a set amount for stepping into the cage, and double that if they walk out with the win.
