Angela Hill will look to hand Amanda Ribas her second straight loss on May 8th.
An intriguing UFC strawweight matchup is planned for May 8th.
MMA Fighting reports that a bout between former Invicta FC champion Angela Hill and Amanda Ribas is in the works, although contracts have not yet been signed as of this writing.
Hill (13-9) is coming off a dominant unanimous decision in her rematch with Ashley Yoder, having already beaten her by decision back in 2017. ‘Overkill’ had suffered consecutive split decision defeats to Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson, the latter a five-round main event that took Fight of the Night honors.
Ribas (10-2) was one of the rising stars at 115 lbs but she recently saw her undefeated UFC run come to a brutal end when she was knocked out by Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257 in January. The Brazilian has notably beaten Paige VanZant, Randa Markos, and is the only woman to defeat Mackenzie Dern in MMA competition.
Current UFC strawweight rankings have Ribas at #10 and Hill at #12.
The UFC’s May 8th show is expected to be headlined by former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw against top contender Cory Sandhagen. ESPN will televise the main card, with the entire event accessible through the ESPN+ streaming service.
