Two exciting fighters in the light heavyweight (205 pounds) division will clash at the STRIKEFORCE Challengers event, live on SHOWTIME®, from Jackson Convention Complex in Jackson, Mississippi this Friday, November 19. The bout will feature Antwain “The Juggernaut” Britt (11-4) as he locks horns with Ovince St. Preux (7-4).

In his most recent bout, Britt went down in defeat to Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, who was recently crowned the new STRIKEFORCE Light Heavyweight Champion. Many felt that “The Juggernaut” was winning the bout, but he took a hard shot that led to the end for him. Now facing St. Preux, he sees his opportunity for a rematch with “Feijao.”

I spoke with Britt recently to talk about this Friday’s bout, as well as his thoughts on his future.

Johnny Preston: How’s your training going for your fight with Ovince St. Preux?

Antwain Britt: My training’s going great. I’m ready to go. My weight’s where it should be, and I’m just ready to do it now.

JP: For both of you, the majority of your fights have ended with you knocking out your opponent. Is that what you expect to see in this fight?

AB: I expect it to be a high-pace fight. I want to go out there and impose my will. I think the guy that goes out there and does that will be the one that comes away with the win. So I want to get in there, implement my game plan, get in his face, and force him to make a mistake.

JP: Your last fight was with “Feijao,” which resulted in a loss for you. Now that he’s got the belt, do you feel any extra motivation to face him again?

AB: Oh yeah, definitely. It’s better to know that you lost to a champion, if only a little bit better. So I definitely want to go in there this weekend and prove that I’m worthy of facing one of the top light heavyweights in the world again. I want to have a good win this weekend, and definitely put myself back on track to a title shot. Definitely getting back in there with “Feijao”…that’s my goal.

JP: If you get past St. Preux this weekend, how far away are you from a title shot in your mind?

AB: I think maybe two or three wins away if I come out on top this weekend, which I think would lead to a fight with a top contender. Remember, when “Feijao” and I fought, I was winning that fight in pretty lopsided fashion until I got caught. So I definitely know that I can put him down and put him in trouble. He’s a great competitor and an awesome fighter, but I do feel I have the tools to beat him.

JP: You mentioned facing a top contender in your fight. If you have your choice, who do you want that to be?

AB: Honestly, I don’t really care. Whoever it is, he’s in my way. If I have to beat a top contender to take his spot, I’ll do it. But as far as a name goes, I don’t even care.

JP: What should fans expect to see this Friday?

AB: An exciting fight. My fans know what I bring to the table, and they know I have exciting fights. I go out there to put on a show, and they can expect more of the same.

JP: Is there anybody you’d like to thank?

AB: All my training partners at Hybrid Training Center in Virginia Beach…the guys that helped me get ready for this fight. My sponsors have been great, and I’m thankful for them. Untamed, Full Tilt Poker, Custom Choppers. Everybody get ready for fireworks on the 19th!
