Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, who’s been knocked out 10 times in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, had a little message for the haters who poked fun at his “glass chin.”
Perhaps Arlovski realized his comments were insensitive, got spanked by someone in charge, or read our 2013 post on what happened to Nate Diaz following a similar offense. Whatever the case may be, “Pitbull” later apologized for his remarks.
“I apologize to anyone I offended with my poor choice of words,” Arlovski told MMA Junkie. “I did not mean to offend any one group or person. I am deeply sorry and will not use these type of words in the future.”
Not surprisingly, the promotion caught wind of what Arlovski said during his post-fight interview, which came on the heels of his UFC San Antonio win over Ben Rothwell, and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, also to MMA Junkie, on “disparaging comments regarding race, religion and/or sexual orientation.”
Unless levied against Cris Cyborg, it would seem.
The victory over Rothwell snapped a four-fight losing streak for Arlovski (18-18, 2 NC), who doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to retire as he enters the twilight of his career. Maybe it’s time for a “Big Ticket” rematch?
