Heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Philipe Lins will square off on May 2.
The Professional Fighters League heavyweight Grand Prix winner is now under the UFC’s banner.
Per The Oklahoman, ‘Monstro’ will have his Octagon debut at UFC Oklahoma City, and will face none other than seasoned veteran and ex-UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski at the May event.
Coming off a 29-second knockout loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik back in November 2019, Andrei Arlovski (28-19-2 NC) will look for his first win since a unanimous decision victory over Ben Rothwell in July of the same year. Before the Rothwell victory, the 44-year-old lost fights to Augusto Sakai, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Tai Tuivasa and Walt Harris, but the last one was overturned after Harris failed a drug test.
Philipe Lins (14-3) became the PFL heavyweight GP winner after beating three Octagon vets in Alex Nicholson, Jared Rosholt and Josh Copeland, as well as Caio Alencar, with all wins coming by way of knockout or submission. The 34-year-old’s last loss happened in August 2017, when he was knocked out by Vadim Nemkov.
Andrei Arlovski is expected to meet Philipe Lins at UFC Fight Night 174, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 2. A middleweight bout between former champion Chris Weidman and contender Jack Hermansson is the card’s main event.
