Ben Askren breaks his silence about his first career loss at the hands of Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239.
It only took Jorge Masvidal five seconds to score a finish and ultimately deal Ben Askren his first-ever career loss. “Gamebred’s” flying knee knockout is now the fastest in UFC history, edging Duane Ludwig by a mere second.
“Funky” was hit on the temple as he changed levels to seemingly shoot for a takedown, and was immediately knocked out upon impact. As Joe Rogan pointed out during the post-fight interview, the fight technically ended within two seconds of action.
Askren immediately left the cage and gave no interviews, but UFC president Dana White gave a brief update on his condition during the post-fight presser.
“He’s good,” White told reporters. “All of his stuff came back negative. So, he’s OK. I’m sure he’s not OK, but you know…”
It didn’t take too long for Askren himself to give a post-fight reaction of his own, which he encapsulated in a three-worded tweet.
Well that sucked
