One of the featured bouts on next weekend’s UFC event has been nixed due to injury.
Unfortunately for fight fans, next week’s UFC on ESPN: Poirier vs. Hooker card is down one main card bout. Third-ranked bantamweight challenger Aspen Ladd was set to face off with ninth-ranked Sara McMann, but that will not be happening now due to an injury suffered by Ladd. The news was reported by John Morgan of MMA Junkie:
Unfortunate news for a top women’s bantamweight contender: @AspenLaddMMA suffered an injury in training and is out of her fight next week with Sara McMann.
I’m told her recovery could be anywhere between 3-9 months.

The nature of the injury has not been revealed as of yet. According to MMA Fighting, the UFC is looking for a ranked replacement so McMann can remain on the card.
Ladd (9-1, 4-1 UFC) was coming off a TKO win over Yana Kunitskaya in her last bout. Former 135-pound title challenger McMann (12-5, 6-5 UFC) returned to the Octagon in January after a two-year layoff, picking up a decision win over Lina Lansberg.
The June 27th card is currently down to seven confirmed fights at the moment, with Dustin Poirier taking on Dan Hooker in the main event. The show will take place at UFC Apex in Vegas.
