Let’s try this again.
After a late injury bounced Bryan Barberena from his welterweight showdown against Jake Ellenberger at UFC Utica, the pair have reportedly been rebooked to throw down at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 135 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on August 25 inside Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
That’s according to a recent tweet from “Bam Bam.”
Barberena (13-5) rose to prominence by derailing the hype train that delivered us Sage Northcutt way back at UFC on FOX 18. Since that high-profile victory, “Bam Bam” is just 2-2 and coming off a decision loss to Leon Edwards.
Ellenberger (31-13) — once ranked in the top five at 170 pounds — has amassed one of the worst UFC records in recent years, going just 2-7 and getting finished five times. That was enough to get “The Juggernaut” booted from the top 15 where he remains unranked.
UFC Lincoln will be headlined by the lightweight main event pitting Justin Gaethje opposite James Vick on FOX Sports 1. Elsewhere on the card, Deiveson Figueiredo and John Moraga collide in flyweight action, while Michael Johnson returns at featherweight to battle Andre Fili.
