A high-profile lightweight bout is headed to Milwaukee this December.
A thrilling lightweight clash has been added to the UFC’s upcoming show in Milwaukee.
Top contender Edson Barboza meets rising lightweight Dan Hooker at UFC on FOX 31 at the end of this year, NZ Herald reported Wednesday morning.
Barboza (19-6) is coming off back-to-back, dominant losses. The Brazilian fell to now-lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 219 last December, and this past April, he was stopped by former interim title challenger Kevin Lee in the UFC Atlantic City main event. Barboza hasn’t won since a March 2017 knockout of Beneil Dariush.
Hooker (17-7) is on the longest winning streak of his UFC tenure. Since moving up to 155 pounds in 2017, the New Zealander has won four in a row, all by stoppage. He holds recent wins over Gilbert Burns and Jim Miller.
UFC on FOX 31 takes place Dec. 15 at Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center. No main event has been announced for the card as of yet.
