Gaethje was talking trash about Masvidal all week, so of course ‘Gamebred’ wants to put his fist through the lightweight’s face after he boxes Nate Diaz.
Could we see a battle of the BMF champions in our future?
Jorge Masvidal was the inaugural BMF belt holder, and then the title was won by Justin Gaethje. Now it belongs to Max Holloway, but perhaps there’s a fight between Masvidal and Gaethje to be had down the road. “Gamebred” is certainly interested in it after some of the things Gaethje said leading into UFC 300.
“Nothing was more special than seeing all that mist come off [Jorge’s] face when Kamaru put a hole through it,” Gaethje told Daniel Cormier. “He’s fat as f—. I fight at 155 pounds, so he can f— off.”
Masvidal is set to box Nate Diaz on June 1st, but sounds more and more interested in an MMA comeback fight somewhere down the line. He told the UFC he’d return after three boxing bouts, and he’s already pegged Gaethje as the perfect opponent.
“That guy’s like f—ing homer Simpson, CTE’d down,” Masvidal said on The MMA Hour. “I don’t wanna talk too much s— about him cuz he just got f—ing flatlined. So I’m hoping our paths cross in the UFC cuz this would be a very good comeback fight for me. Easy fight for me.”
Masvidal has called Gaethje out before, and now it seems like there’s some heat to the fight.
“I mean, he’s literally just walking forward eating shots, no head movement, no nothing. So it is definitely a guy I’d love to f—ing stick my fist through. Nothing personal. Obviously, he seems like he’s a little personal that I make picks and stuff. But I would love to bust Gaethje’s face up. Let him heal for this cuz he might never come back the same. Because that was a war that he went through and then on top of that, he got f—ing executed.”
“So Gaethje can say whatever f— he wants,” Masvidal concluded. “I’m not giving a f— about it. But if our paths do cross paths, I light that motherf—er up.”
