Bellator 169 ‘King Mo vs. Ishii’ comes to Dublin, Ireland on Dec. 16, 2016. In a co-promoted show that will also feature BAMMA 27, Muhammed Lawal and Satoshi Ishii will throw down in a Heavyweight main event.
Bellator 169: “King Mo vs. Ishii” marks the fourth Bellator event of December so far, and this one will come to 3Arena in scenic Dublin, Ireland, on Dec. 16, 2016.
Bellator will be co-promoting the show with BAMMA, who already has a three-fight card with two title bouts lined up (more on that here) but the main event will feature a heavyweight tournament winner against an Olympic legend.
Muhammed Lawal (19-5, 1 NC) fell short in his bid to unseat Phil Davis for his No. 1 contender’s spot at Bellator 154, but prior to that he had a seven fight win streak which included winning the inaugural Rizin grand prix last December.
Perhaps that triumph led the self-described “moneyweight” to return to the 206-265 class. His opponent Satoshi Ishii (14-6-1) is a fellow Rizin veteran who also holds an Olympic gold medal in judo from 2008. Ishii made his Bellator debut in June, losing a split decision to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 157.
Bellator also announced that local favorite “The Strabanimal” James Gallagher will return at Bellator 169 for a featherweight fight against an opponent yet to be named.
Meanwhile on the BAMMA half of the card, their bantamweight champion Tom Duquesnoy (13-1, 1 NC) will take on the challenge of Alan Philpott (16-8), while the featherweight title will be decided between Ronnie Mann (25-8-1) and Martin Stapleton (18-4).
The cards for both promotions as it stands so far are below.
