Check out the results and video from Bellator 169 including the marquee heavyweight matchup between King Mo and Satoshi Ishii.
Bellator 169 is officially in the books as the Viacom promotion held it’s first event today from Dublin, Ireland. The main event for the evening witnessed King Mo, in a one-sided affair, travel the distance with Satoshi Ishii in the heavyweight division. The co-main event for Bellator 169 saw Ireland’s own featherweight prospect, James Gallagher, pick up his second Bellator win with a third round submission of Anthony Taylor.
Main Card:
Muhammed Lawal def. Satoshi Ishii via Unanimous Decision (30-27 x3): Heavyweight
King Mo started strong against the heavier Satoshi Ishii, as Lawal landed more strikes on the feet and was able to secure a pair of takedowns to round out the first frame. Ishii began the second stanza by throwing more volume, but most of those strikes missed their mark. King Mo continued to land with punches on the feet and was able to put the Judo expert Ishii on the ground multiple times in both the second and final round of Bellator 169. King Mo dictated the pace with Satoshi Ishii and earned himself a unanimous decision victory in Bellator’s heavyweight division.
Satoshi Ishii was reluctant to swing on King Mo, and paid for it:

James Gallagher def. Anthony Taylor via Submission (RNC) at 1:52 of round 3: Featherweight
Young featherweight prospect James Gallagher has settled in to the Bellator promotion, as the SBG Ireland product picked up a third round Rear-Naked Choke victory of Anthony Taylor. James Gallagher remained composed during the early blitz from the American Taylor, and began to soften up his opponent with damaging leg kicks. It was Gallagher who found the back of Anthony Taylor in the third round, from a leg kick to scramble sequence, and steadily worked towards the submission. James Gallagher now moves to 5-0 in his young career as he put on for his home crowd in Dublin, Ireland.

Sinead Kavanagh def. Elina Kallionidou via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-25, 30-26): (W) Featherweight
Sinead Kavanagh came out guns a blazing as she relentlessly chucked bolos at Elina Kallionidou. The 18 year old Kallionidou was unable to mount any real offense of her own as she struggled with the physicality of Kavanagh, both in the standup and in the grappling departments. Sinead Kavanagh picked up a one-sided unanimous decision victory as the unbeaten SBG Ireland product moves to 4-0.

Daniel Weichel def. Brian Moore via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 4:44 of round 1: Featherweight
Ireland’s own Brian Moore was not shy about coming straight at his more seasoned opposition, but it was Daniel Weichel who showed his dominance as soon as the fight hit the mat. Weichel took the back of Moore, working for a RNC, but transitioned to full mount where an Arm Triangle presented itself. Brian Moore had no choice but to tap as Daniel Weichel has now won 3 straight.
