Bellator 205 ‘Curran vs McKee’ comes to CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho on Sept. 21, 2018. The main event will featured undefeated Featherweight star A.J. McKee against former champion and long-time Bellator veteran Pat Curran.

Bellator 205 “Curran vs. McKee” goes down Sept. 21, 2018 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. The main event will feature a former 145-pound world champion going toe to toe with an undefeated Featherweight sensation.

Pat Curran (23-7) has been to the top of the mountain before in Bellator MMA twice. In what seems like a lifetime ago now, Curran knocked out Joe Warren at Bellator 60 to claim his first title reign. He would successfully defend the belt twice before Daniel Straus dethroned him at Bellator 106. That bout was already the second meeting of the two, and in the third Curran used a rear naked choke to regain the gold.

Unfortunately for Curran another rematch with an old foe unseated him as Patricio “Pitbull” Freire took the title at Bellator 123. He would go on to lose a split decision to Daniel Weichel before running off three straight divisional wins, defeating potential contenders like John Teixeira and Emmanuel Sanchez in the process. A fourth straight win over McKee might just earn him another match with “Pitbull.”

The undefeated “Mercenary” A.J. McKee (11-0) might have other ideas. Critics have dogged him for not facing the toughest guys in the division, but at Bellator 197 he snapped the win streak of Justin Lawrence in a hard fought unanimous decision. Fights that go the distance tend to be the exception for McKee as he’s finished seven of 11 by knockout or submission, often in highlight reel fashion.

With long-time promotional veteran and multiple-time former champion Curran standing across from him in the cage, this will be the biggest test yet in the career of the young McKee. A win here cements his status as the best Featherweight in Bellator to not yet fight for the world title. A loss would put him well to the back of the line in a division full of fighters who are all nipping at Freire’s heels.

At this early date the only other bout announced for Bellator 205 is the long awaited match between Middleweight contenders Rafael Lovato Jr. (8-0) and John Salter (15-3). They were previously scheduled to meet at Bellator 198 in Rosemont but an injury forced Salter to withdraw.
