A vicious right hand ended Eduardo Dantas’ night early at Bellator 222.
On the main card of Bellator 222, Juan Archuleta extended his winning streak to 18 with a tremendous win over former bantamweight king Eduardo Dantas. The fight, which was contested at 145 lbs due to the short notice nature of the booking, perhaps earned Archuleta a bantamweight title shot against new champion Kyoji Horiguchi.
Archuleta had already hurt Dantas earlier in round two with a left hook, but with the seconds ticking away at the end of round two, he uncorked a wicked right hand that sent Dantas down and out. Thankfully Archuleta didn’t follow-up with any strikes, and also thankfully Dantas eventually got back to his feet and walked out of the cage under his own power.

Here’s our play-by-play of the fight:
Round 2 – Archuleta pressures right away. Dantas controls the clinch though, so Archuleta backs off. Front kick from Dantas. Not a lot going on. Archuleta lands a left that stuns Dantas! He manages to reset though. Archuleta presses as Dantas throws a knee that doesn’t land. Dantas is chasing. Archuleta lands a walkoff right hook KO right at the horn! Holy hell! Dantas threw a big kick against the cage and Archuleta slipped it, then threw a huge right hook that slept Dantas. That was awesome!
