Check out the betting odds for Saturday’s Bellator 228 event, where Patricio “Pitbull” Freire is favored over Juan Archuleta in the main event.
Bellator 228 is upon us this Saturday with the second installment of the promotion’s featherweight World Grand Prix opening round. Bloody Elbow has arrived with the betting lines.
The featured matchup of the evening will involve the tourney, but also include a 145-pound title fight when double champ Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defends against the streaking Juan Archuleta. In typical Pitbull fashion, he is involved in another tight betting line. This time around, he is holding strong as a -135 betting favorite, with a +105 return on the challenging Archuleta.
In the co-main event slot, a top-shelf rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Lyoto Machida is on the books. The first time they collided, back in the UFC in 2014, Machida was favored at -225 as Mousasi registered as a +185 underdog. Machida went on to take the decision win in the five-round affair. Fast forward to present day, and my oh my how things have changed. Mousasi is now heavily favored with a moneyline of -335 and Machida is a beefy underdog sitting at +225.
Switching back to the featherweight GP, the promotion’s former bantamweight king Darrion Caldwell is pitted against the heavy handed Henry Corrales. The former title holder is getting the respect of the bookies, rogering up with a moneyline of -185. Going back the other way, Corrales is an underdog option at +150. Before that, former Bellator title contender Daniel Weichel meets the sub-savvy Saul Rogers. The more experienced Weichel is reasonably favored at -170, with betters able to take the price on Rogers for +140.
Bellator’s undefeated homegrown talent, AJ McKee, puts his undefeated record on the line against the more seasoned Georgi Karakhanyan. Despite giving up the edge to his opponent in cage-time, McKee is massively favored here with an ultra-moneyline of -600. As for Karakhanyan, he is the largest betting underdog of the entire main card. He can be acquired straight up for a puffy tag of +400.
