Competitor for Bellator Fighting Championships latest event were set to hit the scales on Friday night for tomorrows Bellator 36 event.
Tournament participant Ferrid Kheder (18-6) refused to step on the scale after reportedly weighing as much as six pounds over the 155 pound limit according to MMAjunkie.com.
Kheder was replaced by preliminary card fighter Josh Shockley (6-0) who will now meet Toby Imada (28-15) on Saturday night.
“This is my chance to show everybody what I’m capable of. The best thing about it is that I’m from a little town, but now all my friends and family will get to watch the fight. I’ve belonged here for awhile. This is my chance to prove that to everybody. I’m where I belong.”
Press Release – Shreveport, LA. (March 11, 2011) – Fighters took to the scales in preparation for Bellator Fighting Championships’ debut in Shreveport, Louisiana, tomorrow night. The eight quarterfinal competitors will be showcasing their talents in front of a packed house at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in hopes of becoming the next Bellator Lightweight Champion.
Bellator 36 will be broadcast LIVE on Saturday, March 12th at 9:00pm ET/8:00pm CT exclusively on MTV2.
