Bellator lightweight champion Joe Warren (6-1) is set to meet Ring of Combat featherweight champ Marcos “Louro” Galvao (9-3-1) in a non-title bout at an upcoming Bellator 41 event.
According to Sherdog.com, the two fighters will meet on April 16 in a catchweight fight of 137 lbs at an unannounced venue.
Warren was the Season 2 Featherweight tournament winner and went on to face, then, current champ Joe Soto for the Bellator title. Warren would end the fight at 33 seconds of the second round by knocking Soto out at Bellator 27 last September. That bout was Warrren’s last fight and was his fourth victory in a row since losing to former DREAM champ Bibiano Fernandes in October 2009.
Warren has expressed an interest in vying for a spot on the US Olympic wrestling team for the 2012 London Games.
Galvao is on a three fight win streak which includes winning the Ring of Combat featherweight title back in December of last year. It was the second title bout of his career after fighting Masakatsu Ueda to a draw for the Shooto 132 lb title in 2008. Galvao has made two apperances for the WEC losing both fights to Brian Bowles at WEC 31 and Damacio Page at WEC 39.
