Due to the hostility between the two men, Bellator will heighten security around their February bout in Houston.
Like any fight promotion, Bellator knows that a good rivalry is key to promoting fights. And there’s definitely no love lost between Kimbo Slice and Dada 5000, who will fight each other in February in Houston. But there’s so much animosity there that Bellator president Scott Coker will be heightening security measures around their bout. He spoke to MMA Fighting about it:
“We’re gonna have good security there, because we don’t need any fight before the fight,” Coker said. “Or any crews fighting before the fight. We’re already on it.”
The promotion will go as far as to set up the two men in different hotels, and will keep their respective camps as far apart as possible during fight week.
Both men came up in the street fighting world of Miami, but had a major falling out a while ago that led to all the bad blood.
Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, and Dada, real name Dhafir Harris, will face off in the co-main event of Bellator 149 on February 19th.
