Despite a losing record in mixed martial arts (MMA) — and a winning record in bareknuckle boxing — former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight, Bec Rawlings, will return to cage fighting under the Bellator MMA banner.
That’s according to a report from ESPN.
A date and opponent have yet to be determined; however, Rawlings (7-8) is expected to debut in the promotion’s flyweight division, currently ruled by undefeated Hawaiian sensation Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.
After a 1-2 stint for Invicta FC, Rawlings, 30, joined season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), where she was summarily eliminated by Tecia Torres. “Rowdy” got called back anyway, because UFC was short on strawweights, but only managed a 2-5 record inside the Octagon.
That led to her departure from MMA and a foray into the world of bareknuckle boxing, where the Aussie racked up three straight wins with one finish, including last February’s nod over the venerable Cecilia Flores.
Hopefully she can replicate that success for Scott Coker and Co. later this year.
