Douglas Lima | Bellator MMA
Bellator MMA recently announced that reigning undefeated women’s Flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (11-0) and three-time (and current) Welterweight champion Douglas Lima (32-7) signed “multi-year, multi-fight” contract extensions to remain with the promotion.
Bellator President Scott Coker had this to say:
“Both Douglas Lima and Ilima-Lei Macfarlane continue to prove they are two of the most dominant fighters on the Bellator roster. They made their Bellator debuts very early on in their careers, have climbed to the top of their respective divisions and have come to represent what this promotion is all about. As champions, both have taken on all challenges and have succeeded in every opportunity. I look forward to watching them continue their careers with us.”
Macfarlane’s last title defense was at Bellator 236 in Hawaii in Dec. 2019, going the full distance with Kate Jackson on her way to a 50-44 unanimous decision across the board. Lima has not made a title defense since winning the title a third time, but he ran through the Welterweight Grand Prix and beat Rory MacDonald in the finals to get back his gold.
