Shortly after the conclusion of last Saturday’s Bellator 49 show, the opening event of for the promotions fifth season, officials decided on the pairings for the welterweight semifinals which will take place at Bellator 53 in October.

Bellator 53 is rumored to take place on October 8th at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California and the main card will air live on MTV2 in the U.S., while fans in Canada can tune into theScore.

Not officially announced for the semifinals, the pairings see Ben ‘Killa B’ Saunders (11-3-2) take on Brazilian veteran Luis ‘Sapo’ Santos (50-6-1), while Chris ‘The Cleveland Assassin’ Lozano (9-1) meets Douglas ‘The Phenom’ Lima (19-4).

Saunders (pictured) earned a third round TKO win over late replacement Chris Cisneros, while his opponent Santos, won a unanimous decision against Dan Hornbuckle to move into the semifanls.

Lozano fought an entertaining three round affair against Brent Weedman, earning a 29-28 unanimous decision, and will meet Lima, who also earned a unanimous decision against his opponent Steve Carl.

Belltor 49 took place last Saturday, September 10, at Caesars Atlantic City in New Jersey. The main card aired on MTV2, while the prelim card was streamed live on Spike.com for the first time in the promotions history.
