A pair of UFC veterans will collide in Dublin’s Bellator 227 main event in September.
Myles Jury’s Bellator debut is official.
He is set to meet former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson in the Bellator 227 main event on Sept. 27 in Dublin, Ireland, the promotion announced Monday. Jury first announced the pairing on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.
After a seven-year stint in the UFC, Jury signed with Bellator earlier this week. Jury enters the Viacom-backed promotion riding a two-fight skid, most recently falling short to Andre Fili. Jury, 30, went 8-4 in the Octagon. He most recently competed as a featherweight, but is moving back up to 155 pounds for his Bellator debut.
Henderson has won three in a row, including decisions over Adam Piccolotti and Saad Awad and a submission of Roger Huerta. The ex-Bellator welterweight title challenger is 4-3 in the promotion after moving to it from the UFC in early 2016. “Smooth” was the UFC champ from February 2012 to August 2013.
Bellator 227 also includes a lightweight bout between Brandon Girtz and Paul Redmond. It will air as a tape-delayed broadcast on Paramount Network and simulcast on DAZN.
Bellator 227 is part of a dual-broadcast event, which also features Bellator Dublin, headlined by James Gallagher vs. Cal Ellenor.
