Vote now in the Bloody Elbow’s Baddest Tournament to determine the Greatest MMA Fight of All Time. Today we have #3 Jose Aldo vs, Chad Mendes 2 vs. #5 Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje. Vote now!

The red corner is front and center today for our BE’s BADDEST Tournament Series to figure out what is the single Greatest MMA Fight Of All Time — that one to watch before the world ends. Today we have the #3 seed, Jose Aldo vs, Chad Mendes 2, locking horns with the #5 ranked, Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje.

In yesterday’s tournament matchup, the blue corner had #1 Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua 1 taking on #2 Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2. This was quite a lopsided victory. With a score of 21-7, Hendo vs. Shogun 1 moves on to the quarter finals.

Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes 2 went down at UFC 179 on October 25, 2014. This was top shelf talent going blow for blow for the UFC featherweight strap. Mendes had improved a lot since their initial meeting, but Aldo had achieved god-mode. Mendes landed some heavy leather, but Aldo was hitting just a little bit harder and landing the better shots. Aldo was also able to address most of the takedowns, not allowing Mendes to control him on the ground. At the end of a tough five-rounds, it was Aldo who retained his title and extended his winning streak to an impossible 18.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje took place at UFC 218 on December 2, 2017 and was litty city! As advertised, the two willing brawlers stood toe-to-toe, dishing it out just as well as they were taking it in — until somebody fell. This is definitely one of those ‘edge of your seat’ sort of fights. Plenty of damage was dished out by both men, but ultimately, it was Alvarez who landed a brutal knee to the face that dropped Gaethje and led to the follow up finish.
