Our compilation show is a deep dive with host, Trent Reinsmith, into the bigger news and goings on in MMA, both inside and outside the cage; presented with a critical, unbiased eye.
Here is some detail on what’s going on here. The “regular” ‘C’mon Now MMA Podcast’ is a daily podcast of varying lengths, the concept of the podcast is to look at goings-on in MMA and dig below the surface of that news — it can be found here: cmonnow.substack.com/. This show is a compilation of some of the best topics covered over the past week.
Here is a summary of the topics discussed, during the latest episode of the weekly “Best of” edition of the podcast. We hope you enjoy listening to the show and will continue to support it going forward. This week’s topics include:
- Coaches need to think safety first for their fighters at all times
- Paige VanZant reveals the UFC’s injury insurance is even worse than we thought
- Jose Aldo has been bamboozled by the UFC PR machine
- UFC should step-up and offer to pay for Mike Perry’s therapy and for any fighter who needs mental health or substance abuse treatment
- Joe Rogan gets the “c’mon now” for saying no one has offered an alternative to ‘show and win pay’
- Ali Abdelaziz embarrasses himself and his fighters… again
- I’m going to hold my applause for the UFC on the COVID-19 plan because it sounds as if most of what is happening is being accomplished not by the UFC, but by Abu Dhabi, UAE
- If UFC events return to the UFC Apex Center in Vegas, UFC needs to have the same protocol — or better — for those events, because of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the US
- Be like Max (Holloway)
- Yes, Aljamain Sterling deserves the next UFC bantamweight title fight
- John McCarthy nails it: the UFC selected the judges for UFC 251… and so if you ask me, the UFC should point a finger at itself for the bad judging (and reffing)
- Dana White, Michael Bisping and Matt Serra leave the safety zone in Abu Dhabi and do not quarantine after re-entry. That’s a problem.
- MMA media continues to let Dana White slide on the cost of Fight Island to the UFC
- Why is it so hard to understand that everyone involved with a UFC event should quarantine for 10-14 days after the event?
