Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar are set to headline Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) first event of 2021 when they collide in the main event of UFC Fight Island 7 this Saturday night (Jan. 16, 2021) on “Fight Island.”
While both men have proven to have great well-rounded mixed martial arts (MMA) attacks, Holloway is very prepared and focused for an all-out striking war against one of the best boxers in the Featherweight division.
“He must be good; he must be great actually because I’m fighting him, I get to share the cage with him,” said Holloway in an interview with TSN.
“A lot of people talk about his boxing and he’s from Boston. Boxing and Boston is a good mix, I can’t wait. Some people like to say my boxing is up there with some of the greats, so I can’t wait to go out there and see whose striking gets it done.”
Kattar’s last six finishes have come by way of strikes, so it’s no secret he prefers to go toe-to-toe against his opponents thanks to the skills he’s been sharpening with at New England Cartel.
Hollows is no slouch with his hands, either, winning his last four via technical knockout, out-striking some of the best the sport has seen including Jose Aldo, Anthony Pettis and current No. 1 contender, Brian Ortega.
While Kattar’s hands have proven to be dangerous, Holloway has yet to be knocked out in his entire MMA career. Something “The Boston Finisher” intends to change come Saturday night.
