Bisping on UFC 209: ‘If they’re the best welterweights in the world, I should f—k up GSP’

Michael Bisping weighs in on UFC 209’s main event in connection with his upcoming fight against Georges St-Pierre.

UFC 209’s main event bout between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson was met with disappointment by fans and media. This sentiment was shared by middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who was among the thousands in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena.

Bisping will be defending his title against Georges St-Pierre, a fight that is targeted to headline UFC 213 on July 8th. St-Pierre is still widely considered as the best 170-pound fighter in the world today, but if that were the case, “The Count” says he likes his chances more after seeing how the Woodley-Thompson rematch unfolded.

“Let’s be honest, it was not the most action-packed fight,” Bisping told TMZ Sports outside the arena on early Sunday morning. “If they’re the best welterweights in the world, then I should f—k up GSP. That’s a fact.”

“If they’re the best welterweights in the world, then GSP is going to a funeral pretty quick.”

During their press conference on Friday, St-Pierre constantly ripped on Bisping for supposedly being intoxicated with alcohol. Bisping did not deny the fact that he may have had some drinks before the presser, but argued that he was not on fight camp mode at the time.

“If the fight was happening some time soon, if I was in fight camp, then I wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol. But the fact is the guy needs so long to get ready for the fight. We’re not gonna fight until the summer,” Bisping said. “So I’m in Vegas, I went to an award show, I won an award, am I not allowed to have a couple of cocktails the night before?”

“GSP, grow up, stop acting like a 12-year-old. I’m in Vegas, I wanna party, I’ll party.”
