Michael Bisping thinks the UFC had some involvement in the drama between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman at Super Bowl media day.

Michael Bisping doesn’t think Jorge Masvidal’s altercation with Kamaru Usman was staged, but he does think the UFC knew that both men were going to be in the same place at the same time at Super Bowl media day last week.

Speaking on a recent episode of Believe You Me, podcast host Bisping theorized that the UFC played a part in the confrontation and says it was very well executed on their behalf.

“Conspiracy theory. Listen if you put them in the same room, and one of the guys there the black gentleman, he works for the UFC,” Bisping said (h/t BJPenn.com). “He’s one of the PR guys, Dave? Ah man, anyway I forget his name. So maybe this was scheduled by the UFC. Maybe they know what they were doing because now Dana accidentally mentioned that the fight’s gonna be happening in International Fight Week later this year in the summer. I mean that’s a fantastic fight and it’s a logical matchup anyway. I don’t really think he let anything out of the bag there.

“Scheduled them to both be giving interviews at the same place at the same time with tons of media around. If you’re gonna do it, that’s a smart setup. Get them to have a fight when there’s nothing but media around everywhere for the Super Bowl. I mean holy sh*t, that’s great promotion for a fight.”

Following the altercation, UFC president Dana White announced that Masvidal would challenge Usman for the official UFC welterweight title at this year’s International Fight Week, which is scheduled to take place from July 7 to July 12. Expect an official fight announcement in the coming weeks.
