You swing for the fences, but sometimes you come up short.
Derek Brunson has been relentless in his quest to score a fight against former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion Michael Bisping, going as far as posting a picture of a “signed contract.”
“The Count” was not impressed. After staying silent for the most part during Brunson’s constant challenges, Bisping finally responded to the 185-pound contender on “UFC Tonight.”

“Photoshop is a fantastic thing. I have not been offered a fight with ‘Derelict’ Brunson. I think he is still a shadow of his former self after getting knocked out against ‘Jacare’ recently. Derek, you’re a good guy. You’re making moves, but I’ve got bigger fish to fry. I don’t even know whose bout agreement that is. Derek, good try.”
Indeed, Brunson is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Ronaldo Souza at UFC on FOX 27, his second defeat to the Brazilian submission specialist (see it). Prior to that, Derek had a two-fight win streak going, including a devastating knockout over Lyoto Machida. But, that’s not good enough to impress “The Count.”
Bisping has been on everyone’s hit list since announcing his next fight would be his last. But, the former 185 pound champion has been turning a deaf ear to just about everyone, waiting for the right opponent to pop up.
As for the rejection, Brunson seemed to take it fairly well.
