Former UFC middleweight champion and Hall-of-Fame inductee Michael Bisping shares his thoughts on Yoel Romero’s recent lawsuit settlement.

On Tuesday, UFC middleweight Yoel Romero likely received the biggest paycheck of his life when he was awarded $27.45 million in damages. It all stemmed from a won lawsuit against a supplement company that proved he had taken a contaminated substance, which led to a shortened nine-month suspension in 2016.

Romero was criticized by his contemporaries, particularly by Michael Bisping, and the two had been at odds since. Now retired and inducted into the Hall-of-Fame, “The Count” did have something to say about Romero’s recent settlement.

“I’m like, ‘there’s no way f—ng the Soldier of Steroids has got $27.5 million,’” Bisping said on a recent episode of his Believe You Me podcast (transcript by MMA News). “Anyway, it’s true. Yoel Romero sued whatever the company’s called and got $27.4 million. And ya know, red panty night for Yoel Romero.

“There must be a god,” he continued. “That’s all I’ve got to say on this. He got $27 million, which is incredible. And I’ll say this, me and Yoel we had a little thing over the years. Congratulations. If you’re listening to this, well done. That’s awesome.”

Romero was scheduled to headline the UFC’s Miami event last April 27th against Jacare Souza, but was forced out of the fight due to pneumonia. He is now slated to face Paulo Costa at UFC 241 on August 17th in Anaheim, California.
