Michael Bisping says he still wants to fight Georges St-Pierre, even though he has Dan Henderson next.
Michael Bisping already has a date for revenge with Dan Henderson at UFC 204 next month, but there’s still a lingering need to fight a former P4P king. Back when Georges St-Pierre talked about returning to the sport seriously, a bevy of potential opponents were named for him. GSP said he wanted Bisping though. That was a few months ago, and GSP still hasn’t actually signed to return yet.
That hasn’t stopped Bisping from running his mouth about GSP though, most recently denying a statement from GSP trainer Freddie Roach that he turned down a fight with the former WW champ.
Now, he’s turning up the heat on a GSP match again when speaking to MMA Fighting:
“If GSP wants to come out of retirement. If he’s finally grown a set of balls to become a fighter again, I beat Anderson Silva, beat Dan Henderson, beat Luke Rockhold. Beat GSP? Yeah, why not. Of course.”
St-Pierre has entered the USADA testing pool and recently had his first blood and urine sample taken, which has led some to believe a return is closer. However, UFC president Dana White has continually shot down the idea, saying recently that GSP is unlikely to fight in Toronto at UFC 206 and doesn’t seem committed to a return. This is likely just a negotiating tactic, but it still puts a damper on things.
We’ll have to see how UFC 204 turns out for Bisping before any serious talk of a Bisping/GSP match could take place again.
