Light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz feels ready to even the score against Corey Anderson at UFC Rio Rancho.
Light heavyweight contender Jan B?achowicz is ready to show the world he is not the same fighter Corey Anderson defeated back in 2015.
Now more matured and seasoned, B?achowicz tells Combate he is prepared for anything Anderson might throw his way, when they meet in UFC Rio Rancho’s main event, on Saturday night.
Although B?achowicz did get exhausted and ended up dropping a unanimous decision to Anderson the first time they met, he guaranteed the mistake has been fixed, claiming he over-trained for the fight, which caused his drop in performance early in the bout.
“I’m ready for anything he might try against me. We fought five years ago, it’s a completely different fight now. After two minutes, I was completely exhausted. I know what went wrong in my body. It was over-training, I don’t know how I survived three rounds. I feel well now, nothing has happened. I’ve been in Rio Rancho for the past two weeks, so there’s no jet lag. This time I will knock him out.”
Even though he considers his opponent a good boxer, B?achowicz still believes he will catch Anderson with a fight-ending shot in the second round, believing he will be able to stuff Anderson’s takedowns and force the fight to stay on the feet.
“I think I’ll win in the second round, but I’m ready for all five rounds. I think I’ll knock him out with a right uppercut, or something worse. I have something in store for him. Corey is a boxer, but he is no good on the ground. He can grapple, but I’m prepared. I think he’ll try to take me down after three or four minutes. I’m ready for anything, punches, kicks. Maybe I’ll take him down.”
Currently on a two-fight winning streak, Jan B?achowicz (25-8) edged out Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza via split decision in his last outing, back in November 2019. Before that, the 36-year-old knocked out former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in July 2019. He has not lost a fight since a TKO defeat to Thiago Santos, in February of the same year.
Now, Jan B?achowicz is expected to meet Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 167, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on February 15.
