Jan Blachowicz is likely to get the next crack at the light heavyweight strap, currently held by Jon Jones, after crushing fellow title contender, Corey Anderson, in the UFC Rio Rancho main event last weekend on ESPN+.

That’s a matchup that isn’t lighting any fires under former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub, who now dishes on all things MMA by way of his “Below the Belt” podcast. Instead, the athlete formerly known as “Big Brown” wants “Bones” to change weight classes.

“I have no desire to see Jan Blachowicz vs. Jon Jones,” Schaub said (transcribed by BJPenn.com). “I have nothing, I have nothing. That does absolutely nothing for me. Nothing. Jon, give us what we want. Go to heavyweight dude.”

Jones has not looked like his dominant self in some of his more recent championship fights, narrowly escaping his Dominick Reyes title defense with a somewhat controversial unanimous decision victory (more on that here).

Which is why talk of a trip north has lost some of its momentum.

“I would almost rather see Jan vs. Reyes to see [who gets the next title shot]. Jon doesn’t want that,” Schaub continued. “I guarantee you it’s Jan vs. Jon next in the summer. Jon will beat him up and then who knows. It’s just not fun, is it? It’s just not exciting. Not exciting at all.”

Sadly, things are just as “boring” at heavyweight.
