Chicago’s UFC 225 is so stacked that PPV worthy fights are ending up free on television.
After a couple of thin cards, the UFC is getting back to serious business on June 9th with UFC 225 in Chicago. That card features a middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero, an interim welterweight title fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Colby Covington, a host of other great fights, and CM Punk.
There’s so many great fights, in fact, that a lot of matches you’d normally expect to see high up near the main event are finding themselves on the prelims, including a heavyweight scrap between Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem. During Saturday’s UFC Chile card, the UFC revealed tha Blaydes vs. Overeem would now be the featured prelim, making room for the featherweight fight between Holly Holm and Megan Anderson.

Both Overeem and Blaydes were quick to take to social media to address the switch, with neither seeming to mind all that much…
For the record I have no problem with the decision because now people in Europe don’t have to stay up late and the sooner the better.

We imagine that’s just how it rolls when you’re on a super stacked card. At least they’re on television. Further down the card on the Fight Pass Prelims you’ve got Rashad Evans, Joseph Benavidez, Sergio Pettis, and Clay Guida. It just goes to show you the UFC can still throw together a good card even in these days of over-saturation.
