It doesn’t take long for a mixed martial artist to learn that fight fallouts are a part of the game. Any veteran worth his salt can rattle off stories about injuries, show cancelations, and any number of issues that keep a planned fight from going down.

But Bobby Green has been through the wringer this summer in a way like few fighters experience at a major-league level.

The lightweight nicknamed “King” went from a UFC 176 fight with Abel Trujllio; had the fight moved to Aug. 16; got shifted to a match against Josh Thomson, whom he beat in Thomson’s hometown; was scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal; got asked to fight Donald Cerrone at UFC 178, then had to step aside to make room for Eddie Alvarez.

After that whirlwind of activity, Green said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour that he turned down a re-pairing with Masvidal and has opted to take time off and get ready to fight again in November.

“I don’t really give two s***s about Masvidal,” Green said, “Masvidal needs to get himself another win to get up in the column some more.”

From the sound of it, the UFC offered to put Green back into a UFC 178 fight with Masvidal, but with Masvidal re-booked against James Krause, he decided against it.

“Yes, but they had already booked him for Krause,” Green said. “I was like, okay, this is a big mess. I’m just going to wait until November and regroup.”

Other than his lingering spite for Cerrone, Green says it doesn’t really matter who he fights next.

“I don’t know. I really don’t have a pick, bro,” Green said. “If it would make sense, it would be all the guys who are below me who make sense. I’m the guy who wants to fight the guys who make me, like, let’s go in there and get it. I want to sting you.”
