Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, claims the world’s preeminent combat sports promotion released 23 year-old striking sensation, Sage Northcutt, because the “Super” prospect was young and needed some work.
Perhaps.
Northcutt (11-5) recently signed with ONE Championship in Singapore and drew a very tough assignment for his debut fight at “Enter the Dragon” on Friday. While Cosmo Alexandre, 37, may not be a household name among mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, the 8-1 Brazilian has nearly 70 wins on the kickboxing circuit.
“Good Boy” only needed 29 seconds to lay waste to the American import.
Northcutt isn’t the only former UFC fighter to falter on the International stage. Eddie Alvarez, a former lightweight champion, was torched by Timofey Nastyukhin in his ONE debut back in March.
No doubt Northcutt will be back in action later this year, hopefully against an opponent a little more in line with his current skill level.
