Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to cancel the flyweight contest between 125-pound up-and-comers Daniel da Silva and Vinicius Salvador after the 26 year-old “Miojo” failed to make weight for the UFC 282 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place this Sat. night (Dec. 10, 2022) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Da Silva and Salvador were booked for the ESPN+ “Prelims” portion of the card.

Da Silva came in three pounds heavy during the UFC 282 early weigh ins (watch the video replay here) and was later ruled medically unfit to compete. Salvador is expected to receive his “show” purse for coming in on weight though it’s unclear if the promotion will look to rebook this bout for an upcoming card or send Da Silva and Salvador on their separate ways.

Da Silva (11-4) is winless in UFC (0-3) and got finished in all three losses.

As for Salvador (14-4), he’s coming off four straight wins, including his technical knockout victory over Shannon Ross on Dana White’s “Contender Series” last August. The 26 year-old “Fenomeno” has scored stoppages in all 14 of his wins, 13 by way of knockout. Expect to seem Salvador back inside the cage sooner, rather than later.
