It could get worse for boxer Yenifel Vicente after his disqualification loss to Jessie Magdaleno.

Yenifel Vicente’s deserved disqualification against Jessie Magdaleno may not be the end of his punishment for repeatedly punishing Magdaleno’s groin.

The Dominican boxer was deducted a whopping four points and then eventually disqualified in the 10th and final round for repeated low blows against his opponent. He was fortunate not to have been disqualified in round four after the first low shot, in which he landed a blow to the head that dropped Magdaleno just as referee Robert Byrd intervened.

Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett told ESPN that Vicente may face additional penalties for his actions from Thursday’s Top Rank Boxing main event.

“There were several shots below the belt,” Bennett said. “Subsequent, referee Byrd took points and as the executive director I am considering moving forward with a recommendation of a suspension or a letter of reprimand to Vicente.”

Per ESPN, Vicente “would present his case to the Nevada State Athletic Commission and the commission would weigh whether there was an intent to injure Magdaleno consistently before deciding on a possible fine or suspension.”

If it were up to Magdaleno, Vicente would get a suspension after making him “sore as hell” with the constant nut shots.

“They should suspend him for a while,” Magdaleno said. “It’s just, I don’t wish nothing bad upon him but something should happen. They should do something to either suspend him for the rest of the year or take something from his pay.

“It sucks to be in that position. I wouldn’t want any fighter to go through that. It does suck and it does bring a lot of wear and tear on you.”

It’s a good thing that this was both a minor fight and an event without fans, because we don’t need another Riddick Bowe vs. Andrew Golota fiasco.
