Boxing odds: Canelo forecasted to KO Plant, capture IBF title

Here are the betting odds for tonight’s super middleweight title fight that has WBA (Super), WBC, and WBO champion Canelo Alvarez wildly favored over IBF champ Caleb Plant.

Tonight Las Vegas will be the city where Canelo Alvarez puts his WBA (Super), WBC, and WBO super middleweight belts on the line against IBF champ Caleb Plant. Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KO’s) basically is boxing at this point, and his only career loss came to the great Floyd Mayweather. Plant (21-0, 12 KO’s) hasn’t quite made the same name for himself, but his record is spotless and over half of his wins have come by knockout. Before all of these titles sway in the balance, let’s take a look at the betting lines and prop bets for this championship contest.

It’s almost becoming a given at this point, but Alvarez is a gigantic betting favorite yet again. This time Saul is clocking in at -1000, which means if you were to wager $100 on this line, then you would only stand to profit $10. Low risk, low reward. On the other hand, though, Plant’s moneyline is awfully lucrative at +600, albeit at the cost of a substantially higher risk. If you were to drop a $100 on Plant, then you would stand to make $600 in winnings.

Now let’s take a look at some of the prop bets for this showdown. The bookies seem fairly certain that 12-rounds will not be necessary to declare a winner here. Gamblers can lay the price on the bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ for a sizable cost of -250, or take the price on the ‘Fight goes to decision’ option at a value of +174. The most popular over/under for Alvarez vs. Plant is 9.5 rounds. The ‘Under 9.5 rounds’ bet is slightly favored at -118, with a slim -108 comeback on the ‘Over 9.5 rounds’ selection.

The odds also reflect Canelo picking up another knockout to add to his record, along with the IBF title to add to his mantle. The proposition ‘Alvarez wins by TKO/KO or DQ’ comes with a favored tick of -185, while ‘Plant wins by TKO/KO or DQ’ is labeled with a long shot line of +1100. The numbers also show Canelo as more likely to win a decision than Plant is, if it does indeed go to the judges. The exotic bet ‘Alvarez wins by decision’ is paired with a moneyline of +240, with ‘Plant wins by decision’ listed at the same value as his KO prop at +1100.
