Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Vitor Belfort, has opened up as the betting favorite in a potential boxing exhibition against the legendary Oscar De La Hoya
The world of boxing is really embracing the spectacle side of combat sports, as it was recently reported that retired boxing great Oscar De La Hoya will be competing in an exhibition bout against against former UFC light heavyweight champion, Vitor Belfort, on September 11, 2021. Betting odds have surfaced for this potential freak show, and the lines are rather tight.
Online gambling site SportsBetting.ag has the accomplished 44-year-old MMA fighter opening up as a -140 betting favorite, with a +100 comeback on the 48-year-old De La Hoya. So, a successful $100 bet on Vitor would get you a total payout of $171.43, with a winning wager on Oscar shelling out $200 altogether.
The website states that since this potential matchup will be an exhibition, a winner will be graded only by KO, TKO, DQ due to referee stoppage, or an official winner by decision rendered at the venue. If the match goes the distance with no official winner, then all wagers will be ‘No Action.’
The 39-6 (Boxing) De La Hoya has not competed since his 2008 loss to Manny Pacquiao, while Belfort’s last match was a loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 224 in May of 2018. The size advantage definitely goes to the 26-12 (MMA) Vitor here, with the obvious edge in skill being on the side of the boxing god. This truly would be a freak show that you know you just couldn’t help but watch.
