It looks like Zabit Magomedsharipov has a new dance partner for UFC 228.
A guy that’s no stranger to short-notice fights will be stepping up again at UFC 228, at least according to what he’s saying on social media. Featherweight Brandon Davis took to Twitter today to confirm that he will be fighting Zabit Magomedsharipov at the Dallas event, replacing an injured Yair Rodriguez:

Davis (9-4, 2-2 UFC) was a product of the first season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. He earned a UFC contract with a decision win over Austin Arnett in the first season. He made his official debut against Kyle Bochniak in January, dropping a decision. Less than a month later, he took a short-notice fight against Steven Peterson, which saw him earn his first UFC win. His last outing was a decision loss to Enrique Barzola in May.
Magomedsharipov (15-1, 3-0 UFC) is coming off a decision win over Bochniak in April where he won a fight of the night bonus. Zabit, considered one of the top prospects in the sport, has won performance bonuses in all three of his UFC bouts so far.
It is unclear if this fight will remain on the main PPV card or not, but considering that the UFC badly wants Zabit to become a star, my guess is that it would be.
UFC 228 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Darren Till.
