Former UFC fighter Brandon Vera is expected to make his debut in the ONE FC cage on December 5th at ONE FC 22: Warrior’s Way, which is slated to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, promotion officials announced on Wednesday.
A 36-year-old Filipino-American, Vera (12-7) competed across the UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions from 2005-2013, compiling a roller coaster of an 8-7 record (with one no contest). He began his UFC career by finishing his first four opponents, including a 69-second starching of Frank Mir, which led Vera to memorably declare that he would hold titles in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight division.
Vera last competed in late-August 2013, losing via third-round TKO to Ben Rothwell. Rothwell tested positive for elevated testosterone following the bout, however Vera was ultimately released from the UFC and quickly signed by ONE FC.
“I am so excited to compete in Manila for the first time for ONE FC,” Vera said. “The fans in the Philippines have been behind me my entire career and I want to repay their faith by giving them an exciting performance and bringing my best into the ONE FC cage for a victorious debut this December.”
An opponent has yet to be determined for Vera’s ONE FC debut.
